My third week here at Vigilant Management is complete and I have to say time is flying by. This past week was once again filled with new learning experiences. I’m trading in the steel toes for stilettos (well… sneakers) this week for my blog post to talk about the great things that happen in the office!
I finally dipped my toes in the sea of computer aided design this week. Although I have experience with SolidWorks from one of my engineering courses, I’ve never used AutoCAD before. Even if I was only using it to measure the area and perimeter of different rooms that had already been drawn, it’s a start! I look forward to eventually being able to draw things using the software – it’s a great tool.
While I love spending time on site to see the progress of different projects, I also enjoy being in the office. It’s great to be surrounded by so many friendly faces and to feel like I’m a part of the “clan”, even if I’ve only been working at Vigilant for a short time. If I have any questions, there is always someone with the knowledge to answer them. I feel comfortable in the office and not once have I felt like the “new girl”. Although some of my friends who are also on work terms have spent most of their time filing papers, I am happy that I get to work on tasks that contribute to the company’s success. There is always time for some fun during the day, whether it be cracking jokes or watching the latest viral video on YouTube. I have enjoyed every day so far and the experiences that have come with them.
I wonder what this week has in store for me!
